The Center conducts applied research and evaluation in areas that affect individuals with disabilities and their families. The Centers Research and Evaluation Team provides services to state and local agencies to design and develop surveys, project evaluations, project-oriented databases, and social science research protocols. Training and support is provided in continuous quality and process improvement, group facilitation and leadership, and analysis and statistics gathering. "The model developed by the Research and Evaluation Unit is a true partnership, with every member working in concert to promote a thorough and complimentary evaluation of the state's approach, efforts and outcomes to address the impact of maternal drinking during pregnancy." L. Diane Casto, Program Manager, Office of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, DHSS, State of Alaska "The approach taken by the University of Alaska Anchorage in building an evaluation component has been innovative and tailor-made to the Fetal Alcohol Syndrome project. Instead of relying on one kind of evaluation, the University has assembled a team of faculty experts to conduct evaluation components." Karen Perdue, Associate Vice President Health Programs, University of Alaska Statewide System "The department is to be commended for its insightful understanding of group process, addressing the needs of the team members in implementing a state-of-the-art evaluation model, monitoring for quality improvement and for creating new assessment techniques." Deborah Stone, Ph.D, Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, Division of Knowledge Development and Evaluation |
