Registry to Help with Disaster Planning. To further enhance community preparedness for Anchorage citizens, the city’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is registering vulnerable senior citizens and persons with disabilities. The disaster registry will help emergency responders locate the most vulnerable members of our community in the event of a disaster. Lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina have prompted communities nationwide to look at emergency procedures for their most vulnerable citizens. The registry will be maintained confidentially at the emergency operations center and at local fire stations. For more information, or to register on-line, go to http://www.muni.org/.
