CAPRA's Mission

The College Access Project for Rural Alaska (CAPRA) at the University of Alaska Anchorage – Center for Human Development, in collaboration with UAA Disability Support Services, provides professional development opportunities to increase the capacity of small rural university campuses to provide students with disabilities a higher quality post secondary education. The project, using a “train-the-trainer” model, instructs site-based teams in southcentral and southeast Alaska to train 200 adjunct and full-time faculty members during its three-year grant period. By providing and improving access to college curricula and services, students with disabilities achieve greater academic success leading ultimately to improved employment opportunities.
